Tanya Simmons was born May 6, 1970. She received her formal education form Francis Patton Primary and Berkley Institute. She then attended the Bermuda College and later Howard University in Washington D.C upon graduating she received her Bachelor of Science degree with a major in speech pathology and minor in special education. After graduation she commenced work at Sheridan Park Elementary in Hollywood, Florida as a speech pathologist. After spending a year in Hollywood she returned home to Bermuda working at the bank of N.T. Butterfield for a year and then was recruited by Whitney Institute Middle School as a learning support teacher. Through her experiences and interactions with many of the female students at Whitney, her desire grew to help young women during their trying teenager years and help them get on track to leading full and purposeful lives surfaced.

In 2002 the ‘Young Woman With A Purpose’ vision was birthed and a summer camp for teenager girls was successfully completed with twenty-three girls graduating from the program. After having completing its second term functioning as a summer program, in September 2003 ‘Young Women With A Purpose ‘ became a full time program. To date there has been approximately 150 young girls who have been exposed to the teaching of the program.

Since which Mrs. Simmons has spread her wings and now oversees ‘Discovering The Woman Within’, a program for woman aged 19 –100 and ‘Young Seeds Of Promise’ a summer camp for little girls aged 4-12 projected to start in July 2005.

This awesome woman of God is wife to Frank Simmons, mother to Jadon, Tamera, Zharrin Simmons and a foster parent to Stephanie Williams. Her favorite scripture is Jeremiah 29:11 “ For I know the thoughts I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not evil, to give you a future and hope. (NKJV)” encourages her to be steadfast to her calling and soaring to the limitless heights God is taking he fearlessly.

She is known for her love of pink, which can be seen in every facet of her program.

Her hearts desire is to inspire women, both young and old, to discover their God given purpose and fulfill their destiny.
